About the Business:

World Crane Services (WCSs) core business remains Third Party Inspection of new equipment - be it built by ZPMC or Liebherr, Kone, Doosan, Paceco, and SPMP - but, in order to broaden the scope of services offered to our clients, WCS also performs a number of related tasks involving equipment in operation on your terminal including load testing, annual thorough examinations, life cycle analyses, accident recovery, and refurbishments. Over the last three years, WCS has carried out numerous crane refurbishments and upgrades to maximise the employment of capital for a variety of of clients around the world. In doing so, WCS has strengthened its team to match the continuing growth in this business segment. Thereafter, WCS has used the excellent manufacturing links within China to produce its own range of safety and terminal products headed up with a modular 20/40 ft Container Top Safety Work Cage, and high quality terminal trailers having now produced close to 150 units. Finally, WCS has expanded into spare parts and service provision, operating a dedicated distribution centre from the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai where ZPMC components are stocked and delivered to the Africa, Middle East, and Sub-Continental region, along with consumable commodities such as wire rope, flexible electrical cables, and filters. The service element of this facility is supported with Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning Engineers all specialists in the crane industry. This mix of facility and staff has proven invaluable in providing assistance to customers worldwide in the repair, refurbishment, and upgrade of cranes.

About the Role:

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Crane Projects and the main purpose of the role is to lead project teams in the field at project sites globally. To provide Engineering and execution support to World Crane Services (WCS) and its customers through onsite inspection services, supervising refurbishment, repair projects though estimation, planning, design and site support on live projects.

Responsible for the budgeted sales, to specific business segment growth and project management of WCS engineering projects and as the following:

  • Project management of applicable TPI and Refurbishment/Service Projects through:-

    • Working out methodology and costing for new projects, including cost data sourcing

    • Planning and scheduling of project works for timely completion within expected budgets

    • Preparation of required method statements and risk assessments

    • Assessing and auditing subcontractors for acceptable service levels

    • Monitor and control site based Engineers and appointed sub-contractor.

    • Provide technical and engineering support to sengineering manager

    • Conduct dimensional surveys and structural inspections in coordination with site Engineers

    • Preparation of technical inspection reports

  • Research new inspection technologies and instrumentation for use by WCS

  • Reviewing contractor prepared reports and issuing to customers

  • Design and issuance of Autocad, or Solid Works drawing/modelling for Projects

  • Assisting with design reviews and inspection of manufactured products

  • Ensure that the highest level of safety is applied in all WCS activities

  • Implement and monitor WCS Health Safety & Environment compliance policy

  • Promotes and demonstrates positive behaviours in harmony with the Companys values and culture

  • Ensures that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities

  • Understands and adheres to the Companys Code of Conduct and Ethics policies

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications:

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:



  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent


  • Experience of working in project teams and on customer sites

  • Track record of deisgn experince


  • Project management

  • Technical knowledge of port equipment and cranes

  • Documentation and reporting

  • To be a team player with good communication skills, and logical thinking
